Over the past 12 months, our team has been working hard – not only for our customers – but to prove that Mooncomputers has the knowledge, diligence and processes to achieve the international ISO 27001 standard. And we couldn’t be prouder, now that Mooncomputers is ISO 27001 accredited!

What is ISO27001?

In a nutshell, ISO27001 accreditation proves that an organisation is following best practices in their information security management system (ISMS). It demonstrates that any apparent risks have been identified, their implications assessed and that the right controls have been put in place to limit any damage to the business.

Spilt into 14 ‘control sets’, ISO 27001 covers everything from how you secure your data and how you control who accesses it, to cryptography and what should happen if you ever experience an attack.

Given that the average financial cost to businesses that suffered an attack was over £4000 in 2020 (excluding any legal liabilities and harm to the brand), any business that has any sort of digital footprint should be looking to ISO 27001 to make sure they have the right processes in place.

What does it mean for me?

Because we’ve gone through the accreditation ourselves, we know what you need to consider when assessing your own information risk management processes and what policies and procedures you’ll need to protect your organisation.

By achieving ISO27001 you can relax, confident in the fact that your systems and information are secure to international standards. You’ll find that your systems are more reliable, and your team will have a better understanding of what need to be done if an issue arises too. Your partners will have more confidence in working with you and, depending on the focus of your business, your customers will be more assured as well.

Full transparency – there are other accreditations like Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus, that may be more appropriate depending on the size and scope of your operation. But no matter your reach, strong cyber safeguards are vital if you are to scale and succeed in the future.
